The Challange

Arthritis NZ currently do a lot of manual work to transfrer information back to their main backbone application Microsoft Dynamics. The task was to remove the requirement to manaully enter new clients from Iqualify into Dynamics. Automatic Client retrieval from Iqualify that runs daily.

This was my first experience dealing with Microsoft Power apps, I always turned my nose up to no code applications. However to my suprise Power Automate was a joy to use, I still needed to use my developer skills to flesh out the logic internal logic of the application. While also not having to worry about credentials to Microsoft Dataverse (back end of Dynamics) and access to Iqualify, that was all seamlessly handled by Microsoft using connectors and custom connectors. I spent more time on the logic of the application rather than time on getting background processes up and running.

What I also really enjoyed was how I could easily share my progress with my college and deploy to production using Microsoft Solutions. I added all my changes to a Solution which I could then easily package up and move to another environment.

Power Automate uses a clear UI interface which allowed me to lay out my application into clear steps, which I could then liaise with my college and Arthritis about exactly what the application was doing.
